Opening our doors
We will be increasing the opening hours over the summer period to ensure that more people can enjoy the Castle. Please get into contact if you’re interested in volunteering as a steward or a guide – training will be provided.
We are hoping to support the Town Council with events relating to the Jubilee and the Olympic torch relay.
…And watch this space for a VIP guest visiting the Castle later in the summer. We can’t wait!
The Zurbaran paintings
Auckland Castle has been the home of the Bishops of Durham for almost 1000 years. These pictures have been a part of the history of the Castle for over 250 of them.
Food festival
The annual Food Festival returns to Bishop Auckland, and it’s tastier than ever before!
Event hire
Auckland Castle is available to hire for corporate seminars, formal banquets and weddings or ceremonies.
