Community focus
The Castle as a place of spiritual and moral importance in the life of the community.
There is no doubt that Auckland Castle, with its timeless beauty and rugged parkland, is already worth a detour. But in time, we hope, a visit to the Castle will draw in a wide range of people, from art aficionados who will come for the Zurbarans, to lovers of History and Culture who will be interested to understand more about how Christianity has shaped our cultural, moral and political lives over the centuries, to architectural fans and culture buffs who will no doubt enjoy our concert programme in the Throne Room, the Chapel and in the open air. Last but not least, we hope that local people, children and families will feel that Auckland Castle is ‘their’ castle, a place to come for quiet reflection, family picnics and adventures, events and festivals and generally fun times!
